Peek at our week!

Wow! Last week of the 1st quarter! I can't believe how fast this year is going by. Last week we learned all about spiders. It was FANTASTIC! The students were engaged and loved every second. I will post pictures of our work later this week. :)

Pets in the classroom!

Our classroom was given a grant from PetSmart to have a fish tank in our room. We got this a few weeks back. I wanted to share our friends with you! Please meet Cotton Candy, Candy Corn, and Spotty. We loved reading all about our fish, how to take care of them, and some fiction stories about pets. What a fun and engaging thing for our classroom!

Bats!

Last week we were hard at work in writing. We researched, gathered facts, and read all about bats! We also compared fiction and non-fiction stories relating to bats. Here are some examples of our awesome work!

Informational Writing

Our first graders are hard at work in writing! We are researching our favorite fall topics, brainstorming, drafting, and publishing. So far the top favorite topics are bats, spiders, and Halloween. I love how hard everyone is working. They sure love their non-fiction!
