The Rule of Three

This week we learned about the rule of three in fairy tales. We read about eight different versions of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We compared each version and pulled out story elements. We have also been working hard in small groups practicing our comprehension for the upcoming reading 3D assessment. We read The Three Billy Goats Gruff and The Three Billy Goats Fluff. We compared these two stories as well. On Friday we decided to have a little fun and make our own troll bridges! This goes well with our How To writings. We wrote out the steps for building our bridges. This was a big hit! Take a look below.

Once upon a time...

Once upon a time there was a first grade class who loved fairy tales. Oh wait! That is us! We are having so much fun with our fairy tale unit right now. This will take us all the way up into the first week of May. We read 6 different versions of Little Red Riding Hood this week. Next week our focus will be on Goldie Locks and next week Cinderella. We will close off the unit with fractured fairy tales. Fairy tales are my favorite thing to teach and we are having so much fun!

We also had a Read Five Give Five assembly today. If you can please send in 5 books for your child to donate. They will then get to pick out 5 new ones in May. Please see the paper I sent home for more information on our book drive.

Have a GREAT week!
